    Description

    Store Security Officer - $17.50/hour

    COVID-19 Statement:Security is an essential industry and DK Security has been, and will continue to be, hiring new employees for our constantly growing business. For safety we have made changes to our interview and hiring process - transitioning to virtual interviews and online training to limit the number of persons, and amount of time employees spend, at our offices. We are in constant communication with our clients to review and update procedures and practices that meet or exceed government recommendations.


    PERKS:
    • Pay Rate: $17.50 / hour (pay rate set by current contract; subject to future increases)

    CURRENT OPENINGS:
    • 2nd Shift Openings
      • Sunday through Wednesday 4PM - 11:30PM
      • Thursday through Saturday 4pm -11:30PM
    • Schedule may vary determined by the store's needs
    • Part-Time (0-29 hours / week) or ACA Full-Time hours / week)


    LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an unarmed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties may vary depending on the site you are working. This opening is for a local grocery store chain in South Bend and Mishawaka and Niles. Some responsibilities may include:
    • Customer Service - provide the highest level of customer service when interacting with employees, visitors, and co-workers.
    • Physical Deterrence - Maintain a visual presence in and around the grocery store and act as a deterrence to theft and other criminal activity.
    • Patrolling - Walk the interior and exterior of the various grocery stores, keeping an eye out for security, theft, safety, and maintenance issues.
    • De-escalation - Prevent any harassment and threats toward cashier and customers.


    SUCCESS as a Security Officer at DK Security will look like:
    • Reliability - Report for your shift on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform.
    • Friendly Personality - Being able to balance our expectations of outstanding customer service while maintaining client policies and enforcing rules.
    • Following Company and Client Policies - Be able to read and interpret written post guidelines, follow procedures as outlined and ensure all tasks are completed throughout the shift.
    • Use of De-escalation Techniques - Being able to defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
    • Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • May NOT have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test at the time of hire and randomly thereafter.
    • Must present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
    • Must be willing to become CPR/1st Aide/AED Certified
    • Must have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
      • Less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
      • Less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years
      • No other major violations in the last 3 years.
    • Physical Requirements:
      • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances, and possibly up and down stairs
      • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
      • Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations
    • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.


    WHAT TO EXPECT (Next steps may vary depending on the position you are applying for)

    1. Phone Interview - Review of our basic qualifications as well as your work history and future goals.
    2. Virtual Interview - Interview with a Recruiter or Manager via video software.
    3. On-site Interview - Get the opportunity to see the site location and understand what the role entails. Meet the supervisor and interview directly with our client.
    4. Job Offer - Talk to our Recruiter about the specifics of the job offer, as well as next steps in the On-Boarding process.
    5. Background Check & Online On-Boarding Activities
    6. In-Office Orientation
      1. Basic Officer Training - Video and Hands-on training regarding skills and techniques important for all Security Officers.
      2. Meet with our HR Team - Complete your onboarding process, in-house drug testing, issuing of uniforms, and photo ID badge, meet with your Operations Manager.
    7. On the Job Training (OJT) - Depending on the site location, you will complete anywhere from 2-40+ hours of On-The-Job training, learning the client-specific policies and procedures of the location you are assigned to.
