Trinity Health is seeking full time, night shift, Security Officers to join our amazing team The shift hours will be 7p-7a, on an 80 hrs per pay period structure.

Training the first few weeks will be on a day shift, 8a-4:30p schedule.

Base pay ranges between 18-22/hr, plus extra night shift incentives.


Job Summary:

Follows established procedural guidelines to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. Enforces all hospital policies, Federal and State statues, and local ordinances within the context of legal limitations.

Provides security services and support to Saint Mary's Health Care through adequate protection of hospital property and safety for patients, employees and visitors.

Provides a welcoming and resourceful presence for patients, families, friends and visitors.

Requires outstanding communication and problem solving skills, exceptional knowledge of the hospital's mission and values as well as a passion for excellence.

Displays a high energy, can-do attitude in a highly visible position requiring a professional presence.


Essential Functions:


  • Greets, directs, and specifically assists customers, visitors, patients and associates of Saint Mary's Health Care throughout the organization, this includes the emergency room and patrolled areas of the facilities. Provides a welcoming environment and projects a positive attitude.
  • Assists with way finding and guidance as needed to promote our mission philosophy. Escorts, patients, visitors and associates to and from their vehicle when necessary. Directs customers to appropriate areas of the hospital by physically walking to the area, or directing another officer to provide escort. Assists with location and delivery of wheelchairs upon request.
  • Collaborates with units and associates with customer services issues and provides assistance in a knowledgeable and resourceful manner, exercising discretion and judgment consistent with the position function and scope. Provides assistance collaboratively with Guest Services relating to service recovery, bereavement and customer service issues. Keeps financial records of assistance provided.
  • Fosters a positive image by promoting Saint Mary's to patient customers by being knowledgeable about centers of excellence, new buildings, mission, accomplishments, policies/ procedures, services, leaders, community involvements, events. Remains current with events happening within SMHC.
  • Rounds throughout the entire Saint Mary's Health Care organization and alerts team regarding suspicious individuals and security sensitive issues and acts accordingly following interdepartmental policies.
  • Perform vehicle parking lot patrols as assigned and follows procedures relating to parking assignment and institutional policy (06/106 & 06/107).
  • Intervenes with acting out individuals using the nonviolent crisis intervention before physical intervention takes place.
  • Assists nursing personnel with restraining aggressive or acting out patient, per physician request/order.
  • Responds to panic/security alarms when alerted and provides necessary assistance as needed.

Education:


Required:
High school diploma or GED


Experience:


Required:

One (1) year applicable security experience or 1 year college level courses in criminal justice (Law enforcement) or security related field of study.


Credentials/Licensure:

Valid State of Michigan Driver's License

Ability to problem solve and develop constructive/creative alternatives to resolve issues and concerns.

Minimum:
Must be able to hear speech, distinguish sounds, and speak. Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sitting, squat, stand, twist, walk, push wheelchairs. Must have near vision, far vision.

Must be able to carry or lift up to 30 lbs routinely, and on occasion up to 50 pounds (20% of time).

Must be able to push or pull over 50 pounds occasionally (20% of time). Must have manual dexterity. Must be able to stand and walk (80 to 95% of time). Wear a two-way radio (100% of time). Perform detailed tasks with interruptions (50% of time). Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs. Ability to physically operate safe patient movement equipment in compliance with the Safe Patient Movement Policy.
