Description

The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports Stetson University by providing a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.

Serving as a member of the Sports Medicine Team, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and/or Senior Associate Athletic Trainer in the Wilson Athletic Center.

This position will be directly responsible for the medical coverage of the softball and cross country programs.

Coverage includes, but is not limited to, attending practices, games (home and away), weight training & conditioning sessions, as well as other team-related functions.

Travel is required for in-season softball and select cross country competitions as deemed appropriate by the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer should be prepared to handle all medical referrals to team physicians as well as coordinate care in the prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of their assigned teams.

In addition, they will be expected to perform organizational and administrative duties and other professional responsibilities that come with being a collegiate Athletic Trainer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

Oversee all Sports Medicine operations for assigned teams
Assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and Senior Associate Athletic Trainer with:
Conducting pre-participation physical examination of all student-athletes
Overseeing all phases of rehabilitation for all studentathletes for assigned teams
Participating in staff education and inservice presentations
Recruiting Assistant Athletic Trainers
Assisting with additional coverage of athletic teams when needed
Serving as liaison between the Sports Medicine staff and the Strength and Conditioning staff as well as Team Physicians
Maintain Wilson Athletic Center Athletic Training Room including:
Cleaning
Restocking
Assisting with inventory of supplies for all Athletic Training Rooms
Maintaining accurate and up to date studentathlete medical records in a confidential and secure manner
Lifting object up to 50 lbs
Complete other administrative duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine
Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

Required Skills:

Time Management
Excellent communication skills, administrative services, and interpersonal skills
Able to collaborate with collegiate athletes, coaches, and other athletic department staff
Knowledge of EMR's
Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and requirements

Required Experience

Athletic Trainer

Board of Certification

Athletic Trainer

State Licensed in FL (or eligible)
Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training OR Master's in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training for initial certification
If Bachelor's degree for Certification, Master's degree in related field is preferred
Professional CPR/AED/First Aid
Minimum of 2 years postgraduate Athletic Training experience
Collegiate experience

Work Environment:

In this role, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will work in a fast-paced environment both indoors and outdoors at times.

This position will be located at times in areas of loud noise (i.e. music, horns, whistles, videos, etc.) as well as flashing and bright lights (i.e. videoboards, light shows during games, etc.).
