Job Purpose:
St.

Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Naperville is seeking to hire a Financial Associate to assist in the Outreach and Social Justice office (OSJ).


Duties & Responsibilities:

OSJ Financial Management and Accounting_

  • Ensure OSJ financial processes that allow tracking, accountability, and transparency of OSJ financial information in accordance with Diocesan Financial policies, St. Thomas Business Office policies, and OSJ Office practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with St. Thomas Business Office providing OSJ financial information and forms as required (including bank deposits, check requests, wire requests, and other special requests).
  • Maintain OSJ accounting records to the detail of specific subcategories within OSJ ministries.
  • Reconcile OSJ finances with Business Office bank statement reconciliation on a monthly basis.
  • Track and reconcile the OSJ internal budget accounts as needed.
  • Prepare monthly OSJ financial reports down to the ministry level.
  • Compile special reports on OSJ finances, as needed.

OSJ Correspondence_

  • Generate IRS acceptable thank you letters to all nonparishioners who make a donation to OSJ.
  • Prepare thank you letters for all parishioner donations of $200 or more.

Other Duties

  • Participate in OSJ staff meetings providing financial information and shared wisdom on all topics of discussion.
  • Participate, as time allows, with the OSJ Director and OSJ Partner on other OSJ projects and initiatives.
  • Respond to the needs of the ministry facilitators and volunteers as it relates to finances.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications:


  • Strong accounting background with some experience. College accounting degree preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Must support the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Diocese of Joliet
