    SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT


    Under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning and DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) grant program manager, the Elementary Career Pathway Coordinator will plan for and coordinate elementary engineering career pathway instruction to students in grades K-5.

    This job includes coordination of curriculum, instruction, and grade-level field trips.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning, develop a creative, flexible, and innovative scope and sequence curriculum focusing on exposure to engineering pathways for elementary students.
    • Implements innovative and comprehensive approaches to the delivery of programs to students.
    • Demonstrates competency in instructional skills.
    • Evaluates planned instructional program goals and revises instruction as a result.
    • Maintains a positive classroom environment to facilitate teaching.
    • Provides input and recommendations to district administration, for program development or program modifications.
    • Coordinates field trips with elementary school leaders to local partners for student exposure to engineering career pathways
    • Ensures maintenance and reporting of program statistics and data to support DoDEA grant reports.
    • Coordinates and implements day-to-day details and activities of elementary career pathways programming (e.g., calendar, transportation, special education services, food service, inventory, and training of volunteers).
    • Assure smooth operation and communication between Clover Park School District and Clover Park Technical College.
    • Coordinate DoDEA engineering after-school and summer school enrollment and programming.
    • Coordinate and provide oversight for summer recruitment activities with Clover Park Technical College staff.
    • Attend family events, encourage, and support family engagement in all aspects of the program.
    • Provide support for school staff to engage in continuous improvement of service delivery.
    • Investigate and develop local community resources to meet the specific needs of DoDEA grant programming.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching and Learning and DoDEA grant program manager.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience


    • Baccalaureate degree in Education or related field (Math, Science, Engineering or Technology) and three (3) years' of experience working with elementary-age students in an educational or recreational setting. OR
    • AA degree in a related field and five (5) years' of progressively responsible experience working with elementary-age students in an educational or recreational setting.
    • Additional qualifying experience or education may substitute for the requirements on a year-for-year-basis.

    • Ability to remain flexible and work effectively under pressure.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and volunteers in a diverse environment.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to write appropriately for multiple audiences and purposes. Skill in public speaking and making presentations.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide adult-focused training and professional development that leads to improved practice.
    • Ability to assess training needs and make recommendations.
    • Ability to provide instructive direction in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to be flexible and open to new ideas, to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously, to work effectively under pressure, maintain a high level of productivity, and exercise independent judgment.
    • Ability to file materials accurately and efficiently.
    • Ability to adhere to Clover Park School District policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
    • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of general office procedures and procedure development.
    • Knowledge and ability to use the following office equipment, computer, telephone, copier, fax and calculator.
    • Knowledge of bargaining unit contracts.
    • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional planning

    Certification and Licenses


    • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance.
    • Must be able to obtain access to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
    Desirable Qualifications


    • Master's degree in education or related field (Math, Science, Engineering or Technology.
    • Two year's experiene in educational program coordination.
    • Previous experience working with or knowledge of the Department of Defense Education Activity.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Work is performed in a regular office and school environments. Travel to and between school sites is necessary.

    Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms, and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise.

    The ability to speak and see clearly; sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; lift 35 pounds; and bend, twist, walk, and reach requiring ordinary physical effort are all required.

    Expected to attend evening meetings.

    Exposure to normal levels of office dust, VDT screens, and office machines and their required chemicals are part of the job.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
    Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28


    A NOTE:
    All associated background check fees are the employee's responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.


    INSURANCE BENEFITS


    Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability, and basic life insurance benefits.

    Clover Park School District benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB).

    RETIREMENT AND DEFERRED COMPENSATION
    Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement System Plan. For eligibility information, check on the link to the Department of Retirement Systems' website.

    These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pretax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
