Job Summary:
As a Ground Person you will perform duties supporting vegetation management and tree trimming related operations. Work may be performed within the minimum approach distance of energized electrical lines.
Pay:
Pay is base of IBEW 1245 Union Scale:
- G1: $24.61/hr
- G2: $26.67/hr

Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Work under supervision to safely trim trees, chip brush, and move vegetative material
- Must be able to work within the minimum approach distance to energized power lines
- Assist crew members with gear setup and maintenance
- Assist climbers with gear preparation and inspection, setup, and aerial workrelated tasks
- Safely and efficiently operate light equipment such as chainsaws, weed eaters, pole trimmers, and blowers.
- Safely and efficiently operate chippers, vehicles, and aerial lifts/bucket trucks from the ground
- Maintain basic knowledge of tree workers aerial climbing techniques and activities
- Must be able to perform all aspects of trailer hauling and towing
- Maintain and implement safe work practices in accordance with industry standards or policies
- Must be able to regularly lift 50lbs or more
- Must be able to work outdoors, yearround in varying environments
- Must be able to work in, around and amongst poisonous plants and noxious vegetation
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Greater than 6 months experience in the tree care or vegetation management industry
- Valid Driver License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver License: Class A or B
- Qualified Applicator License (QAL)
- Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC)

Probationary Period:
- 90day probation period if previously a member or IBEW 124 180day probation period if not a previous member of IBEW 1245
Travel:
- This position is expected to travel to project sites and locations within California (Operating Area)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
