    Plant Manager Job Description:
    Tree Brand Packaging has a 30+ year history manufacturing custom wood block and stringer pallets.

    We have grown to 7 Southeast locations covering NC, SC, AL, GA, TN through exceptional customer service and industry leading design to meet unique customer requirements.

    We're currently seeking a plant manager to oversee the production, maintenance, and quality functions of our newest facility in Huntsville, AL.

    This person will coordinate the plant's start up as well as the manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations.

    The ideal candidate will be exceptionally detail oriented and able to lead a team. This person must be dedicated to achieving operational excellence and have a genuine interest in helping the company succeed.
    Objectives of this role
    Lead the start up of a new pallet and crate production facility
    Implement production and quality improvements throughout the facility.
    Provide leadership to ensure effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment.
    Collaborate with sister locations in the implementation of improvements.
    Investigate and implement innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality.
    Responsibilities
    Plan, organize, and run day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations.
    Increase production while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
    Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.
    Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
    Monitor operations and implement corrective actions
    Recruit, manage and develop plant staff
    Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or excessive overtime
    Commit to plant safety procedures and help create a safety culture.

    Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.

    Address employees' issues or grievances according to the company guidelines.
    Manage raw materials replenishment and quality standards.
    Manage cost for manufacturing by keeping operational expenses within budget allowance and investigate cost-reduction measures.
    Required skills and qualifications.
    Ten or more years of experience in plant operations or engineering
    Proven skills in leadership and supervision
    Strong hiring, team building, decision-making and people management skills
    Computer skills with focus on Excel.
    Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing principles
    Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
    Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
    Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
    Preferred skills and qualifications
    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business, engineering, or related field

    Plant Manager Job Duties

    The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

    They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations
    • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
    • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
    • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
    • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
    • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
    • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
    • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
    • Commit to plant safety procedures
    • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
    • Address employees' issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
    • Influence and learn from below
    • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
    • Requirements and skills
    • Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
    • Proven managerial experience
    • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
    • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
    • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
    • Computer literacy
    • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
    • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
    • BS degree in Business Management or related field
