    Job Overview

    The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is recruiting a Post Doc Fellow or a research associate to work in the lab of Dr.

    Frank McCormack.

    The incumbent will work on the funded research projects, particularly focused on response of the lung and pleural space to particulate exposures.

    This person will conduct research experiments and analyze research data, ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati.

    Essential Functions


    • Conduct research experiments independently in pulmonary biology, with oversight by PI, and maintain a detailed notebook of daily work.
    • Prepare data summaries, reports, figures, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
    • Participate/assist in manuscript for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations; assist in grant writing.
    • Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
    • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
    • Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
    • Train in lab management, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
    • Teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
    • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
    Required Education

    Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent.

    Required Experience


    • At least two years of prior laboratory experience with cell culture, protein and DNA manipulation, animal experimentation required.
    • Experience with software programs in use in the laboratory, including Excel, Powerpoint, Prism, Word desirable.

    • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
