Position Summary

  • Review the Customer Profile form to ensure accuracy:
  • All pre-engineering requirements (site survey or review of drawings and specifications).
  • Submittal procedures and instructions.
  • Installation/operations instructions.
  • Attend a project "kick off" meeting with project salesperson, engineering and the subcontract acquisition person or the Installation Manager.
  • Review of specifications and drawings and/or site visit, for each project is considered a preengineering function and is required. This preengineering function is to confirm piping layouts, component locations, verification of room dimensions and any special installation requirements, ie. lifts, scaffold, etc.
  • Determine if there are on site electrical or mechanical contractors and obtain contact information.
  • Provide engineering submittal distribution and quantity information. Complete the Engineering Revision Form and forward to the Engineering Manager.
  • Obtain engineering submittal approval and coordinate customer changes/comments with engineering.
  • Advise SSI procurement to order equipment once the engineering submittal has been approved.
  • Filing for and obtaining permits with the local authority having jurisdiction.
  • Identify and document any installation problems.

Problems can include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural integrity requirements.
  • Interface with auxiliary function requirements.
  • Waiver of system performance based on design and noncompliance with a and b.
  • Advise salesperson of any field change order requirements.
  • Inform project salesperson of acceptance test scheduling and results. Determine with project salesman what change orders might be required.
  • Schedule training with the customer and S.S.I. Customer Service Representative.
  • Provide customer/client contact with closeout certification and documentation.

This documentation includes, but not limited to:

  • Letter certifying system installed per NFPA standards.
  • Asbuilt drawings.
  • Fan test results
  • Copy of approval from fire marshal/AHJ.
  • Pursue NICET certification to appropriate level based on time and grade, and participate in ASCET (American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians).
  • Maintain behavior conducive to a professional image, business attire that reflects a professional image, and the utmost in professional and personal ethics as an employee of SSI

Required:

High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED).

Minimum five years' experience in the installation / service aspects of Fire Suppression and/or related systems. Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices, piping installation and construction project management. Thorough knowledge and understanding of NFPA standards and other related code rules, requirements and restrictions.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to supervise, direct and coordinate the work of others.

Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking skills and time management skills.

Pay:
$65, $75,000.00 per year
