GMF Steel Group is hiring for a Non-Destructive Testing Inspector to join our Field Operations team This person should be excited about joining a rapidly growing organization and be certified in both UT and MT Level II.

Responsibilities:

• Perform visual field inspections of bolts and welds on structural steel buildings.
• Field inspections may include but not be limited to:
  • Visual weld inspections
  • Magnetic Particle (MT) weld inspections
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) weld inspections
  • Bolting inspections
  • Visual steel decking inspections
  • Preinstallation verification of structural bolts
• Assist QC department with document control.
• Create/update weld procedures as needed.
• Assist in development of project specific QC plans and associated documentation.
• Act as a resource for project teams in correspondence/coordination with the client.
• Assist QC department with general QC updates, trainings, auditing, and inspections as required. These may not be limited to QC topics involving welding.

Qualifications:

• Must be certified in UT Level II.
• Must be certified in MT Level II.
• Certified Welding Inspector.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as CWI/NDT inspector with a focus in structural steel field inspections.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in large scale commercial or industrial construction.
• Familiarity with Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP), such as boom lifts and scissor lifts.
• Comfortable at heights and using a harness for proper tie-off.
• Comfortable traversing steel at heights without use of a MEWP, when necessary.
• Expert knowledge of AWS D1.1 and RCSC.
• Familiarity with studs and deck welding is a plus.
• Familiarity with AISC Code of Standard Practice and Chapter N is a plus.
• Ability to read structural steel drawings and details and understand the requirements of the project specifications.
• Experience with AWS D1.3 preferred, particularly as it related to steel decking inspections.
• Experience with AISC 303 Code of Standard Practice, Steel Deck Institute (SDI), and Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is preferred.

Salary:

• $65,000 - $90,000
• Dependent upon experience

Compensation: $65, $90,000.00 per year
