Therapeutic Musician

Description:


We are seeking a skilled and passionate Part Time (with the possibility of going Full Time)Therapeutic Musician who is a vocalist with guitar or piano accompaniment experience to provide musical programs for the elderly in various facilities/locations.

In this role, you will be responsible primarily for facilitating musical activities, connecting and engaging with the audience through music, creating reports, and providing 1-on-1 or group music services to elders.

Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide musical programs for the elderly and engage them through music
  • Provide nonmusical programs for the elderly and engage them through different activities (when trained)
  • Facilitate or lead activities for the elderly and motivate them to participate
  • Create reports that will assist the activities department with observations in communication, motor skills, thought process, cognitive functioning, etc. of elders
  • Connect and engage with the audience through music
  • Deliver a combination of 1on1 music and group music services to elders and motivate them to participate
  • Demonstrate proficiency and understanding that the service we provide is to enrich the residents' lives through primarily musical and some nonmusical activities
  • Conduct occasional market research to identify new customers and execute marketing tasks for identified opportunities
  • Open to learning nonmusical services and providing such services to clients
  • Other duties assigned by the management
  • This role demands a certain level of physical exertion and agility to efficiently perform essential tasks. Key physical activities include prolonged periods of sitting and standing, the ability to lift and carry objects of various weights, pushing or pulling objects, and driving as necessary. The role may also require extensive reaching, working in low postures, bending, clear vision capabilities, and regular walking. You must be capable of meeting these physical demands to successfully execute the responsibilities of the position.

Requirements:


  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate group presentations
  • Prior music experience is required
  • Knowledge of appropriate music for a specific generation or audience
  • Prior experience with music research, program presentation, and audience interaction is desirable
  • Ability to travel to various facilities/locations to perform music services
  • Vaccinated against COVID19 as required by the customer/facility that we serve
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Zoom or online meetings/services
  • Has a stable internet connection when working remotely
  • Willingness to be trained for other nonmusical services in preparation for the company's transition to a fullservice recreational therapeutic organization
  • Undergo training and certification for professional growth in the field of elderly care, or be eligible for certification
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Dependable and flexible

Additional Information:

We offer paid sick leave, paid training, and retirement benefits. The interview process includes a 30-minute video music presentation/audition.

You may also be asked to send video samples of your music plus an assessment of your music/song knowledge about popular songs from the 40s, 50s, and 60s.
