PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Professional Development Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring ongoing educational opportunities for the organization's members.

You will be responsible for planning and executing training events, managing member interactions, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, providing support to enhance overall membership satisfaction, and general administrative duties in a small office setting.

This role requires a high level of customer service, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication services. Previous experience in an event planning role and association experience is preferred.


General Responsibilities

  • Plan an annual state Legislative Action Conference in Albany.
  • Coordinate national Legislation Action Conference trip to Washington for NY delegation.
  • Work with volunteers to coordinate workshops across the state (virtual and inperson).
  • Prepare materials for training classes.
  • Design, disseminate, evaluate event satisfaction surveys.
  • Attend workshops and education programs, as needed.
  • Secure speakers, create speaker packets, and manage the moderators and volunteers.
  • Answer phones, open mail, keep files in order.
  • Provide general office support to all departments as needed.
  • Minor errands and tasks offsite, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Committee Management

  • Serve as a staff liaison to several committees, working with committee chairs to develop agendas, assembling information, ensuring timely followup, coordinating meetings, etc. (Professional Development, Public Policy and Legislation, Farm to School)
  • Manage correspondence, meeting notices, and other information.
  • Responsible for helping committees to achieve their strategic plan goals annually.
  • Maintain accurate records of committee members/terms limits.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Familiarity with website management/association membership databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Acrobat and ease with working with online platforms such as Constant Contact, Survey Monkey, Dropbox, Google Docs, etc.
  • Confidence in public speaking skills, with an eye for detail and excellence in presentations of data and information.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to prioritize among competing goals to execute on deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining a cool, efficient, and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and access to vehicle for occasional travel.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to meetings, conferences, and events including overnight stays and/or additional hours.

What We Offer
Full Time Position.

Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm with generous paid time off, professional development opportunities, retirement planning, and employee health/dental/vision plan available.

NYSNA is a 501 c 3 and employees qualify for the PSLF program.

Annual Salary Range of $44,000 - $50,000 (based on _preferred _work experience listed above). Quarterly performance bonuses available.
