    Position Summary

    This position will primarily support inspection tasks associated with softgoods manufacturing and will also support other inspection areas within the business unit. The ideal candidate will be familiar with sewing operations and typical softgoods inspection practices. This position is part of an inspection team that reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:


    • Verification of proper sewing operations in accordance with drawing requirements and industry specifications.

    • Follow written detailed instructions and read patterns/drawings.

    • All fabrication is performed on controlled work authorization documents. Any deviation from applicable drawings, standards, and/or specifications to be documented on nonconformance report.

    • Utilize ability to interpret engineering drawings to support in process inspection, fabrication, assembly, and testing.

    • Perform Final Inspection of items in accordance with company procedures.

    • Properly utilize inspection tools and equipment as needed and appropriate based on the drawing/assembly/testing requirements.

    • Witness step-by-step critical assembly and testing and verification of Mandatory Inspection Points.

    • Performing visual/or dimensional inspection of raw materials, mechanical/or electronic parts to ensure conformance with the latest drawings, specifications, and methods planning documents such as Tables of Operations (T.O.s), Production Identification Documents (PIDs), and Test Preparation Sheets (TPSs).

    • Supporting Government DCMA representative and Customer Source Inspector in the evaluation and performance of GMIPs prior to progressing or allowing work to progress beyond a pre-established point.

    • Identifying appropriate inspection tooling and performing inspection with calibrated assets.

    • Communicating effectively with management, quality engineers and shop personnel to keep the production flowing, identify issues and resolve bottlenecks. Supporting continuous improvement efforts of the company.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED


    • Five (5) + years' experience in aerospace processing environment, with emphasis on softgoods fabrication and inspection.

    • Familiarity of proper sewing machine set ups, including thread tension.

    • Successfully pass a sewing inspection test administered during interview to demonstrate competence in softgoods inspection techniques.

    • Experience measuring and/or inspecting lengths, diameters, straightness, true position, runout, flatness, etc.

    • Experience operating within Aerospace Quality Management System (AS9100).

    PREFERRED


    • Familiarization with common NASA/JSC PRC Process Specifications.

    • Working knowledge of GD&T requirements per ASME Y14.5.

    • Experience processing NASA Flight Hardware.

    • Familiarization with the NASA / IPC Workmanship specifications.

    • Experience in utilizing/programming Coordinate Measuring Machine and/or FARO Arm to perform dimensional inspection on in-process or finished flight items. Training to operate the CMM/Faro Arm to be provided by the company as needed based on candidate.

    • Technical Certification and/or degree in a related field.
