General Purpose:


Responsible to deliver counseling and referral services to the clientele transitioning from public assistance to employment, and to assist in attaining career goals that can lead to self-sufficiency.

Must maintain the highest standard of personal conduct and integrity while working with the clientele, as well as in relating to other staff members, service providers and agencies.


Essential Functions:


  • Conducts outreach and schedule follow up meetings (virtually and inperson) to ensure clients are meeting goals established in the individualized service plans (ISP) with the Career Navigator.
  • Provides followup counseling and guidance services to address barriers to employment and make appropriate referrals to vendor services, agencies, and HRA representatives as required to help overcome these barriers and better prepare clients to achieve long term employment outcomes.
  • Ability to leverage partner relationships and technology to identify, research and to provide resources to assist participants in addressing barriers to employment and/or training.
  • Completes entry of case notes documenting participant progress and/or challenges adhering to time frames set by HRA and Goodwill Industries.
  • Performs monthly assessments for new clients and ensures that clients have all necessary documents for employment such as valid proof of Citizenship/US residency, work authorization, social security card, valid NYS photo identification, educational and training documents and updates resume.
  • Monitors and tracks client attendance, engagement and participation in assigned activities for participants enrolled in Career Advance or alternate HRA activities.
  • Submits weekly and monthly reports to the Training and Engagement Coordinator with updates on case notes, clients serviced, and services rendered.
  • Perform other assigned duties and tasks as needed.

Qualifications/Skills:


  • Associate or BA degree required with two years related working experience with client and or customer population.
  • Computer proficiency required in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred but not required but must have some database management experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to relate to participants in a manner conducive to building selfesteem, confidence and motivation which may directly affect participant ability to overcome barriers.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Exercises discretion, judgment, and confidentiality by maintaining security of customer information and files.
  • Must be flexible and able to adjust and respond to the changing needs of the program and be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands.
