Description

Alamo Behavior Analysis is looking for people who are passionate about supporting autistic learners with intellectual disabilities in home and community settings using the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to increase adaptive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.


This position is for individuals who have experience with teens or adults with intellectual disabilities who occasionally engage in challenging behavior.

This is a parttime position in Glendale, Arizona, to take place at a day treatment center for adults.


Days/hours are:

Monday-Wednesday, 9:30am-1:00pm


DUTIES

  • Implement behavioral therapy interventions under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Collect and record data on learner behavior during therapy sessions.
  • Assist with diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments.
  • Provide support and guidance to autistic individuals and their families.
  • Monitor learner's progress.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of behavioral therapy principles and techniques, or willingness to learn through paid training.
  • Experience working with teens and adults with intellectual disabilities, particularly those with autism.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with autistic individuals and their families.
  • Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) methodologies or willingness and ability to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Engage learner in activities that support development of social and communication skills.
  • Engage learner in leisure skills to improve quality of life.
  • Support learner in engaging with peers socially.
  • Promote health and safety behaviors by going for a 1mile walk daily.
  • Use proactive strategies to reduce engagement in challenging behavior.
  • Use reactive strategies to help learner deescalate while and after engaging in challenging behavior (Note: learner has a 2:1 staff ratio at all times, so there will be no need to physically manage his challenging behavior).
  • Take data in an app to track progress.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be CPR certified and pass a background check.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be comfortable working with adult males.
  • Must be a strong communicator and keep supervisor updated.
  • Must be adaptable and able to pivot when strategies are not working.
