Happy Pediatrics is seeking a friendly and skilled medical assistant to join our team.We are a small pediatric clinic in Temecula, CA that values providing exceptional pediatric medical care and being a supportive partner to our patients and families.
For this position, the medical assistant will have responsibilities in the front and back office and work a full-time schedule for weekdays only.
Basic Front Office Responsibilities:
- Greets patients in a friendly manner and assists with the checkin/checkout procedures.
- Schedules appointments, verifies demographic information and insurance eligibility, and collects patient payments and copays at time of visit.
- Provides patients with appropriate registration and screening forms.
- Manages incoming and outgoing electronic faxes and medical records.
Basic Back Office Responsibilities:
- Performs patient intake and accurately obtains and records the patient's vital signs, medical history, allergies, medications, and other important patient information for visit type in the electronic health records (EHR).
- Cleans and prepares examination rooms.
- Performs and accurately records pointofcare testing per physician orders.
- Safely administers vaccines and medications to patients per physician orders. Accurately inputs this information in the EHR and CAIRS registry database.
- Performs hearing and vision screenings, ear lavages.
- Assists the physician with procedures and prepares patients as needed.
- Submits and manages subspecialty referrals and obtains prior authorizations for medications, DME, etc.
- Calls and follows up with patients about lab results, imaging results, patient inquiries, and patient status as directed by the physician.
- Prepares physical forms and immunizations records for the physician to review and sign.
- Orders VFC vaccines and records all vaccines administered.
- Manages supplies inventory and notifies the physician about low supply.
- Maintains all equipment and work environments in clean and proper condition.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Medical Assistant Certificate (completion of a program with an externship)
- Minimum 12 years of experience as a medical assistant.
- Previous experience working in a pediatric medical clinic is required.
- Must have dual front and back office experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written forms.
- Proficient use of computers including internet, electronic health records software, and Google Suite (or similar e.g. Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook).
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- BLS/CPR Certification

$ $22.00 per hour
