    Job Description

    Castle Contracting, LLC (Castle) is a 100% employee-owned, self-performing site preparation contractor. We have served clients in Southern California since 1969, helping to solve their most complex site preparation challenges. We provide site utilities, dry utilities, natural gas, and earthwork construction services. The company has offices in San Diego and Newport Beach, with projects ranging in size from $250K to $7M. Castle is a privately held, wholly owned company of McCarthy Holdings, Inc.

    This Project Engineer position will incorporate the opportunity to manage larger scopes of work and employees. On a daily basis you will actively participate in the coordination and management of the jobsite to ensure a safe, quality, timely execution of the project.

    Key Responsibilities

    • General Contract and Subcontract administration
    • Construction Scheduling
    • Material & Equipment – procurement and expediting
    • Mechanical, electrical and piping systems coordination
    • Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
    • Project cost review, reporting, updating and accounting
    • Review of subcontractor applications for payment
    • Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings
    • Supervision and coordination of subcontractors' field installations
    • Review and negotiate change proposal pricing from subcontractors
    • Prepare change proposal pricing for self-performed work
    • Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
    • Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment
    • Maintenance of As-Built plans
    • Quality control - field and shop
    • Monitor and document jobsite safety and accident prevention
    • Project Closeout
    • Implement all applicable Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering required
    • 2-5 years of equivalent experience required
    • General knowledge of construction principles and processes
    • Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work
    • Civil, site utility and/or grading project experience preferred
    • Must be Geographically mobile and able to relocate within a region
    • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment

    For Southern California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $88,000 - $95,000 depending on experience. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
