Position Summary:


The School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is an exciting and entrepreneurial office within Hudson County Community College [HCCC], which offers a wide variety of non-credit classes, courses, seminars, and training sessions for the community.

These offerings are focused on revitalizing careers, upgrading skills and credentials, growing businesses, and pursuing pastimes and passions. Join a winning team focused on serving the educational training needs of the Hudson County Community.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and logistics of the ASCEND Parent Powered Solutions Fund.

Awarded to HCCC from the Aspen Institute, this fund will support a cohort of approximately 20+ Student Parents to meet their educational and professional goals through tuition remission, essential technology, transportation assistance and other supportive services.


For this grant, the person in this position and the persons impacted by the Parent Powered Solutions Fund, a "_Student Parent_" must be a currently matriculated or registered student at Hudson County Community College who is the parent or legal guardian of a dependent child aged 0-18 (age 0-21 if neurodivergent).

HCCC alumni who progressed to a 4-year state school and are currently pursuing their bachelor's degree will also be considered.

All _Student Parents_ must be current Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) public housing residents or JCHA housing choice voucher participants (HCVP/Section 8).


Reporting to the Director of Workforce Pathways at HCCC, the Coordinator's essential function is to assist with recruitment, enrollment, and direct monitoring of student activity through the designated training programs; establish an advisory committee of _Student Parents_; host community meetings & have regular communication with Jersey City Housing Authority partners, community stakeholders, various college offices, applicants, and students through the program.

This is a part-time grant-funded position concluding December 31,2024.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Active involvement of _Student Parents_ informing decision making, program development, and evaluation.
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of eligible participants for designated programs.
  • Ensure that training activities are occurring for the grant participants as outlined in the program scope.
  • Engage the community stakeholders, businesses, and partners to promote the program.
  • Host community meetings to garner feedback from _Student Parents_ and other stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps in parent student success and cultivate relationships to amplify success.
  • Create a student parent advisory board to inform decisions and best practices for project success.
  • Maintain records ensuring grant requirements are met including tracking participant progress.
  • Interact with the grants management department and ensure grantee materials are filed appropriately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Must be a current Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) public housing resident or JCHA housing choice voucher participant (HCVP/Section 8) [Verification required]
  • Must be a current HCCC student parent [verification required]
  • Minimum educational requirement is: High School/GED.
  • Engagement Skills: Ability to engage internal and external constituents and have customer service and marketing skills. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
