QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Must be at least 18 years of age; proof of high school graduation/GED equivalent required. Some college hours preferred.
  • Minimum of oneyear successful experience in a state regulated child care facility or educational setting required, two years preferred.
  • Flexible and able to adjust daily routine or work schedule based on the needs of the children and the centers.
  • Experience as a lead instructor preferred.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Experience with activity plans and knowledge of the developmental stages of children required.
  • Knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
  • Selfmotivated, able to work under pressure and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms with staff, children and parents of the centers.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Ability to instruct children and manage their behavior.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and receive directives from multiple supervisors.
  • Available occasional nights and weekends as required for scheduled meetings or trainings.
  • Ability to meet/maintain all eligibility requirements required by Texas Health and Human Services to be employed in a child care operation, including maintaining required first aid and CPR certification.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

197 Days - 40 hours per week


SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$19.00 per hour - CR5 as approved by the Board of Trustees


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Travel to any Early Learning Center assigned to fill in for absences and provide needed coverage.
  • Perform all essential functions of the position assigned.
  • Acknowledge receipt of daily assignments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Supervise children in all programming areas.
  • Prepare and implement ageappropriate lessons as outlined by the ELC curriculum.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for communication with parents of the center and provide positive communication with parents, as appropriate.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve jobrelated skills and meet the yearly training requirements as outlined in the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
  • Comply with state, district and department regulations and policies pertaining to the role of an ELC employee.
  • Attend and participate in staff and department meetings, as required.
  • Adhere to all standards, procedures, and expectations outlined in district and program handbooks as well as all staff development training.
  • Adhere to all Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers licensing requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships and interactions with children, parents, CFISD staff members, and community members, including regular communication.
  • Utilize positive behavior strategies and maintain professionalism in interactions with children and colleagues.
  • Accept constructive feedback and reflect on instructional practices and program quality.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  • Perform any and all other duties deemed necessary by the ELC Director, the Assistant Directors of Community Programs, the Director of Community Programs and/or the Assistant Superintendent for Communication and Community Relations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and listen. Frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting. Frequent light lifting and carrying (under l5 pounds); occasional moderate lifting and carrying pounds). Indoor and outdoor environment. Available from 6:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily; possible split shifts. Report to any Early Learning Center as directed.
