Job Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the accounting and payroll processes of the agency. The Accounting Specialist reports directly to the Executive Director.
Duties:
- Planning, coordinating, and managing accounting activities.
- Creating accountingrelated reports and documentation for management approval.
- Assists in creating and managing budgets, projects future cash flows, and offering regular financial analyses.
- Developing accounting policies to ensure operational efficiency.
- Conducting periodic accounting analyses to identify and resolve issues, gaps, or variances.
- Managing cash controls as well as maintaining bookkeeping up to date
- Ensuring that all accounting transactions are conducted legally and ethically.
- Prepares accounts payable by tracking and coding invoices, processing for approval, inputting invoices into accounting software and processing check run.
- Prepares accounts receivable by inputting cash receipts and preparing bank deposits.
- Maintains meticulous accounting records.
- Reviews timesheets, enters and posts payroll data into accounting software to ensure timely payment of employees and contractors.
- Manages grant awards to ensure expenditures in compliance with award guidelines.
- Research vendors for best financial opportunities and reviews invoices for accuracy.
- Reconciles credit card statements and matches receipts to statement for processing of payment.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Prepares documents for audits to be approved by the Board of Directors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school; or two years to oneyear related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advance knowledge of accounting software.
- Able to manage multiple contracts, each with different grant periods, reporting requirements, and budget allocations.
- Working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Products.
- Effective communication skills and recordkeeping skills.
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance & reliable transportation
- Random drug testing

$45, $50,000.00 per year
