The City of Nuremberg is a modern service provider for more than half a million citizens. As one of the largest employers in the region, we rely on the skills and abilities of our approximately employees, who shape and make Nuremberg special with dedication and determination.

The Building Department is the central municipal service provider for municipal construction tasks, with around 280 employees. One focus of the tasks is the preservation and maintenance of existing building structures, including all municipal monuments, the construction and maintenance of schools, childcare, leisure, cultural facilities and administrative buildings (e.g. zoo, city library, fire department), as well as the restoration and maintenance of Nuremberg's rich historical heritage. In addition, the Building Department also takes on tasks in technical building management and central tasks in municipal energy management, building automation, and environmental and health protection.
