- Reviews and approves all state and local returns for Western & Southern Financial Group to include all life and non-life subsidiaries, Employee Benefit Plans, and tax-exempt entities to include the State Premium, Income/Franchise and Sales and Use Tax Returns, all non-life State Income/Franchise and Property Tax Returns.
- Compliance with all state and local tax audits for the Enterprise.
- Implementation of changes in tax legislation as it impacts the Company's tax, operations, and products.
- Approves all related tax payments.
- Experience preparing and managing the preparation of state and local tax returns for C-Corporations, partnerships, large and small corporations, consolidated groups, etc., in a corporate tax or public accounting firm. Federal tax return experience desired.
- Thorough in-depth understanding of the functions of GAAP, statutory, and income tax accounting, the underlying body of concepts that constitute accounting theory and the application of those concepts to accounting problems and situations.
- Knowledge and understanding of key elements of financial statements and reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash-flow statements.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Must demonstrate project management experience in planning, executing, and maintaining a project from start to finish.
- Proven experience leading and motivating teams. Must possess a high level of proficiency in the ability to provide direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members.

A Day in the Life –
TheTax Compliance and Financial Reporting Manager will manage our external contractors to whom our complete Tax Function is outsourced. This position is responsible for overseeing our contractors on tasks such as; managing the Enterprise's income, premium, and sales tax compliance and reporting; state and local tax audits; tax cash-flow planning and projections; and research on various assignments received from Management. Skill sets served include but are not limited to an individual with substantial experience preparing and managing the preparation of state and local tax returns for C-Corporations, partnerships, large and small corporations, consolidated groups, etc., in a corporate tax or public accounting firm.
