Description
The Digital Spaces department manages physical and virtual classrooms, specialized learning environments, and other learning environments (e.g., conference spaces). Oversees that they are suitably equipped and functional to meet the needs of the educational experience. Oversees the installation and long-term management of displays technologies (e.g., screens) across campus.

The Supervisor, Event Services (AV/IT) will lead and manage a team of audiovisual event technicians, project coordinators, business relationship team, and student staff, for the IT-managed events and spaces across UCLA, including the Luskin Conference Center, The Hill, Lake Arrowhead Conference Center, and other venues as required.

The
Supervisor, Event Services (AV/IT) will be responsible for the technical AV operations management, scheduling team members, liaising with campus stakeholders, maintaining profit-and-loss statements, ensuring profitability, administering training programs for the AV equipment, and managing maintenance of live event equipment.

The Supervisor, Event Services (AV/IT) will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage data and insights in service of the institution's academic mission.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

Salary & Compensation

Qualifications

  • 2 years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment. (required)
  • 5 years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, event production, management, customer service, systems administration, engineering, higher education. (required)
  • Proven experience in live event production for audio, video, lighting, for inperson, hybrid, and remote events. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting technical information to audiences of technical and nontechnical stakeholders. (required)
  • Significant experience working in a projectbased environment using leading project management practices including schedule management. (required)
  • Experience solving technical and nontechnical problems; able to delegate solutioning when appropriate to the proper resources. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (required)
  • 5+ years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment. (preferred)
  • 7+ years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, event production, management, customer service, systems administration, engineering, higher education. (preferred)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the hospitality and service industries. (required)
  • Proven knowledge of designing, planning, setup, operations, and striking of AVoIPbased audiovisual equipment. (required)
  • Proven track record of training and developing audiovisual staff. (required)
  • Handson knowledge operation and maintenance of digital mixers, intelligent lighting, networking, production switching, video projection, microphones, speaker, monitors, lighting kits, stage design, and production schedules. (required)
  • Ability to track profitandloss in an audiovisual events organization. (required)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to small teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated leadership / management skills, including abilities in persuasion, negotiation, mentorship. (required)
  • Advanced project management skills and is able to delegate responsibility, track project progress, supervise others, and advise on competing priorities. (required)
  • Able to supervise and manage data gathering efforts seeking information from multiple and diverse sources. Demonstrated understanding of how decisions affect teams. (required)
  • Thinks creatively and advises team on industryleading practices, such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Can manage teams in an everchanging, fastpaced environment. (required)
