    Job Summary

    This front line position creates a first impression of the County. As such, strong customer service skills are key elements of this role. This position must accurately process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax payments using the County software systems. Position is expected to provide subject matter expertise to help our customers navigate the State and County laws and requirements. Work involves the operation of equipment commonly found in an office setting. Also performs telephone, reception, email, walk-up window and other duties as required in a dynamic office environment.
    • Maintains professional behavior and excellent customer service.
    • Addresses and resolves customer concerns relating to County services.
    • Assists customers in person, by telephone, email, and online chat as needed.
    • Accurately records transactions and balances payments to daily activity reports.
    • Performs clerical duties such as filing, monitoring inventory, operating telephone and reception desk and assisting co-workers as needed.
    • Processes mail transactions.
    • Prepares daily deposit.
    • Performs bank reconciliations and reconciles balances with general ledger cash balances
    • Works closely with CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager and Supervisor of Taxation & Revenue to ensure quality of work meets or exceeds State Audit mandates.
    • Is flexible and adaptable to changing conditions including surges in volume and varying workflows.
    • Assists with month-end and year-end close of books and records.
    • Maintains customer files and assists customers with inquiries.
    • Performs various daily duties such as sets up new taxpayer accounts, process and verify online and mailed returns, prepares deposits/ returns and posts and reconciles receivables.
    • Prepares monthly invoices and/ or refund letter for mailing and prepares end of month reports for review.
    • Processes accounts payable invoices which includes reviewing invoices for proper receipt, accurate purchase prices, appropriate taxation and adequate funding.
    • Converts purchase order requisitions, which includes staying up to date on county/state bids and purchasing cooperatives, verifying pricing and reviewing coding for accuracy.
    • Prints checks and produces electronic funds transfer (EFT) files.
    • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
    Qualifications and Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
    • A valid driver's license.
    • Customer service experience with direct contact with the public.
    • Experience with cash transactions and reconciling a cash drawer.
    • Two or more years of computer experience in a work environment.
    • Must be available to work multiple locations.
    • Must be available to work non-standard hours and more than 40 hours per week when necessary.
    • Bonding may be required.
    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
    • Experience with Munis Accounting Software.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is sedentary in nature involving a significant amount of sitting, occasional standing, walking and lifting less than 25 pounds.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an office environment and normal travel within county may be required.
