Position Title:
Chief of Maintenance and Construction Operations


Evaluation Instrument:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with Policy GBI.

Contract Work Year: 240 Days Per Year, 8 Hours Per Day

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience and Skills:

A bachelor's degree and five years of progressive responsible experience culminating with at least one year of supervisory experience in building construction, operations and/or maintenance, required; operations and building construction, experience in engineering, building design, preferred; thorough knowledge of building, cleaning and maintenance practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of construction methods and materials, building trades, including mechanical and electrical; good knowledge of grounds maintenance; ability to schedule and supervise the work of subordinate personnel; ability to coordinate all departmental activities with other district; superior oral and written communications skills.

Contribute to the successful achievement of the Columbia County School District mission and major system priorities by supporting the effective organization and operations of the school environment to optimize student learning, instructional programs and related activities.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, improvement and beautification of all district facilities to include district owned roads and grounds.
  • Directs the maintenance and upkeep of school grounds, including lawns, shrubbery, walkways
- and parking areas

  • Assists district leaders with planning, developing budget estimates; develops specifications and plans for bidding, construction, renovation and repair work of district buildings and equipment buildings.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct and control construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Ensures all facilities and grounds meet federal, state and local codes and guidelines.
  • Works with district leaders to ensure staffing levels are maintained in all areas to ensure department operations at a very high level of efficiency.
  • Ability to effectively plan and allocate talent and/or material resources meet periods of high demand usage or impending deadlines.
  • Possess the ability to inspect painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other mechanical systems and or construction work performed by third party vendors or contractors.
  • Knowledge of and implements best practices as it relates to the position.
  • Keeps records and makes reports of building operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to leverage department performance through effective delegation of tasks to subordinates and staff via timely communications and use feedback and employee engagement.
  • Directs the maintenance and upkeep of school grounds, including lawns, shrubbery, walkways
and parking areas.

  • Collaborates with local government and utility officials to develop and maintain best use of resources to include supervising an energy conservation program.
  • Provide exemplary service to all customers and stakeholders.
  • Recommend changes to existing practices or processes where appropriate to ensure continuous improvement of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned by district leaders.

$112, $141,911.00 per year
