- Conduct all program's intake eligibilities, verification, obtain all required documents, orientation, assessments, workshops.
- Perform tracking of participants, input data, short/long-term case management, and job activities into database system for record-keeping, and provide a follow-up service till successfully existed from the program.
- Make appropriate arrangements for family's with medical needs prior to their arrival.
- Provide wrap around services to the family that includes but is not limited to enrolling minor children into school, assist adults with obtaining state identification cards, navigate roadways, accompaniment to medical facilities, connect families to local public agencies for social services, employment related support, and etc.
- Conduct and/or lead cultural orientation workshops that provide adult family members with a general understanding of their social and cultural surroundings, healthcare system, positive and healthy parenting, local emergency service system, legal rights, and etc.
- Be knowledgeable of the agency's mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan. Join different agency initiatives to improve program and service quality and to help accomplish the agency strategic plan's goals and objectives.
- Participate in an ad hoc committee to help the organization accomplish and maintain short-term and long terms goals from the organization's strategic plan.
- Other duties assigned by the Program Coordinator.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field AND a minimum of 1-2 years of experience OR at least 4+ years of experience in providing case management to underserved community in a similar role. Bilingual in Farsi/Dari/Pashto/Russian/English preferably.
- Must have flexible working hours that prioritizes the newly arriving family's needs such as early morning and/or weekend appointments; transportation needs.
- Self-starter, ability to work with minimal supervision; excellent communication, community relations, networking and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with families without discrimination towards peoples of diverse cultures, races/ethnicity's, socio-economic positions, ages, religions, genders, physical/mental challenges/disabilities and sexual orientations.
- Understand, explain, and apply complex local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, database management and Internet Explorer.
- Must have a valid California Driver License, clean DMV record and proof of current auto insurance and registration; must pass background check. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Job DescriptionLao Family Community Development, Inc. (LFCD) is a community development non-profit agency established in the City of Richmond in Contra Costa County in 1980. Today Lao Family has expanded its operations and service footprint to two additional counties including Alameda and Sacramento. LFCD's headquarter office is in Oakland, CA. It delivers programs and services from 7 locations in 35 languages. The agency provides both community development real estate facilities and a diverse array of workforce, education, and human service that directly support predominantly low-income US born high barrier families and individuals, refugees, immigrants, transitional age youth, seniors and other special populations such as individuals with disabilities.
Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Refugee Program Coordinator, LFCD is looking for a candidate to work closely with newly arriving refugees with activities and services that establish and promote well-being and self-sufficiency. The candidate will ensure sound and timely operations prior to the family's arrival, connect them to critical services such as education, employment, medical, benefits, etc. Upon arrival, orient the family into their surrounding community by coaching them on use of the roadways; public transportation; navigation of key landmarks such as retail and grocery stores; and any and all other life sustaining services that advances the families economic well-being. Due to the nature of the program, the candidate needs to have flexible availability to work during non-traditional hours. The candidate needs to be able to pick up newly arrived families from the airport at midnight, help them get situated in their home, and bring them to their mandatory appointments the following morning if program requires.
