Medical-Technical Radiology Assistant Job Description

The MTRA works in the fields of Radiological Diagnostics, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine.

They work largely independently, taking images of organs or body parts using state-of-the-art equipment, either on the orders of or in collaboration with doctors.

They also administer radiation therapy and care for patients with cancer, as well as perform nuclear medicine examinations using radiopharmaceuticals.

Throughout all of their tasks, they prioritize radiation protection and maintain a competent approach towards patients.


Requirements:

  • Successful completion of secondary school
  • Proof of physical fitness (no more than 6 months old)
  • Certificate of immunity to measles (vaccination status)

Training:

  • Competitive training salary
  • Threeyear fulltime theoretical and practical training
  • Theoretical and practical lessons at the Training Center for Health Professions
  • Practical training at the University Hospital Halle (Saale) and cooperating facilities

Training Process:
The total number of hours during the training is 4400.

The theoretical and practical lessons make up 2800 hours and take place at the Training Center and in departments/clinics at the University Hospital.

The practical training, totaling 1600 hours, begins at the start of the training in radiology departments at the University Hospital or cooperating facilities (4 weeks per semester).

The 6-week hospital internship required by law is integrated into the training.
