A Food Safety Regulatory Affairs Specialist at Jiaherb is responsible for developing & maintaining positive customer relationships through good regulatory documentation practice and providing prompt responses for all customer's regulatory needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the company and its business partners are FSMA compliant. (FSPCA certified PCQI; FSPCA certified FSVP QI; Certified HACCP practitioner)
  • Manage all international inbound and outbound shipments and ensure compliance with FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) regulations.
  • Determine the types of regulatory submissions or internal documentation required for shipments, packaging, and/or labeling of food products. Respond to requests made by government agencies.
  • Coordinate inspections with FDA (Food and Drug Administration), USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture), and FWL (Fish and Wildlife). Prepare and review regulatory submissions related to these to assure scientific rigor, accuracy, and clarity of presentation.
  • Coordinate processing of import food safety documentation with shippers.
  • Maintain current knowledge base of existing and emerging regulations, standards, and guidance documents and accordingly prepare and update reports on a daily and weekly basis for quality control.
  • Daily communication with vendors, brokers, government agencies (including USDA, FWL and FDA), customs brokers and agents, and warehouses concerning current regulations and/or any changes in the relevant rules.
  • Review product promotional materials, labeling, batch records, and specification sheets for compliance with applicable regulations. Advice the company's marketing team regarding the relevant compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical files for each product or product group to obtain or continue approval for the company's products.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Food Safety, Food Law or a related field
  • Proactive in finding information required to complete tasks.
  • Strong writing and speaking skills for dealing well with customers and colleagues
  • Flexible to work in a multifunctional position that is fastpaced and takes on multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain new information
  • Strong Internet and Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, & Excel)
  • Attention to detail, high level of organization, and ability to follow instructions
  • Impressive telephone etiquette
  • Strong ability to learn new computer programs in a timely manner
  • Organizational skills to be able to balance all these tasks at once
  • Ability to stay positive and calm in difficult and/or trying situations
  • Ability to handle multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities
  • Must be able to work flexible hours when needed
