    Description
    GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: General patient support, front desk and general office duties (answering phones, faxing, scanning, filing), and manage scheduling of patients; accepts patient payments and generates daily deposit reports; performs data entry.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Answer and route incoming calls, as appropriate; Take messages when necessary.
    1. Greet incoming patients scheduled for appointments and walk-ins and verify on each visit that the patient registration information is current; Update any changes and input information into EHS.
    2. Notify the dentist on duty of any emergency walk-in patients to facilitate patient being triaged timely.
    3. Scheduling of patient appointments in EHS patient management system (walk-ins, scheduled appointments, call-ins, etc.) according to protocol.
    4. Confirm patient appointments with phone call.
    5. Verify dental insurance prior to patient appointments.
    6. Posting dental insurance claims
    7. Scan patient IDs, social security card, demographic information, insurance card, medical history, referral information, and medical clearance correspondence into patient management system
    8. Arranging referrals to dental specialists
    9. Arranging shipment of Dental lab cases.
    10. Cross train with other front desk support staff to ensure the department's routines are not backlogged or interrupted.
    11. Maintain daily patient sign-in log
    12. Other job duties as assigned by the Dental Office Manager or CDO.
    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be familiar with dental terminology, procedures, dental charting and treatment planning. Must have experience with dental specific electronic health record.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School graduate with at least one (1) year of office experience in dealing with the public; pleasant telephone etiquette; ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients; must be computer literate.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written documents fluently.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: No professional certifications, licenses or registration required. All candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background check and screening as part of pre-employment.
