- Provide clinical athletic training services within the Sports Medicine program. Workload will be assigned based on experience and areas of specialization depending on department needs.
- Coordinating utilization of AT facilities including the scheduling of individuals to receive care
- Serve as primary athletic trainer with WCU intercollegiate student-athletes
- Provide excellent patient-centered and evidence-based athletic training care
- Serve as preceptor for athletic training students in WCU's CAATE-accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training Program
- May travel with selected sports
- Mentor students
- Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications
- Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees
- Other duties as assigned
- Master's degree in Athletic Training or a closely related field
- At least 3 years of full-time clinical athletic training work experience
- BOC certification
- Pennsylvania athletic training license or eligible for PA license
- Post graduate degree in athletic training or a related field; and/or
- Athletic training experience with basketball or collision sports; and/or
- Clinical athletic training experience at the collegiate level; and/or
- Experience as a preceptor for athletic training students from an accredited AT program; and/or
- Professional service with athletic training organizations at the state, district, or national level; and/or
- Record of scholarly activity

The Department of Sports Medicine invites applicants for a Full-time, 9-month Tenure-Track Faculty of Sports Medicine/Athletic Trainer position. Faculty rank will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, expertise, and training. The position begins in August 2024.

The Sports Medicine Department consists of faculty members who serve as instructors in the classroom and/or in the athletic training setting.
The faculty member will primarily serve as an athletic trainer. This involves serving as a preceptor and providing athletic training services for WCU intercollegiate athletics. The ideal candidate will use innovative clinical skills and demonstrate strong attention to the needs of the department's students. Their experience, substantive specialization, and training will serve to strengthen the department's mission and vision. The faculty will collaborate with other departmental and college faculty & staff to ensure student success.Responsibilities include:
