- Including income tax, motor fuel tax, sales tax, property tax, and unclaimed property reporting, determining resource needs and evaluating appropriate split between external vs. internal preparation and consultation.
- Identifies accretive planning opportunities on an ongoing basis.
- Proactively communicates relevant significant tax matters and actively participates in strategic decision-making with senior management.
- Coordinates tax planning with the compliance calendar to incorporate all tax deadlines and availability of needed resources.
- Personally supervises quarterly and annual interaction and calculation of individual shareholder estimated payments, corporate distributions and compliance.
- Reviews tax provisions as needed.
- Works closely with various accounting groups to improve efficiencies between accounting and tax.
- Researches appropriate tax positions in relation to new accounting pronouncements and provides guidance and recommendations as to those matters.
- Periodically reviews policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for working with directors in managing staff and processes to ensure timely compliance for all Federal and state reporting.
- Manages and/or supervises tax projects with outside consultants while striving to perform various tax projects in-house whenever practical
