Summary:


The Second Assistant Women's Basketball Coach provides instruction to members of the women's basketball team and makes recommendations to the Head Coach related to game and practice strategy.

This position works under general supervision of the Head Coach. The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach is responsible for on-the-floor coaching of student-athletes and various administrative tasks.


Essential Functions:

  • This position assists the head coach in instructing studentathletes during practices and games. Responsible for teaching and conducting skill workouts. Watches game film with studentathletes to assist with instruction and helps prepare the team for opponents during the season.
  • This position performs duties to include evaluating prospective studentathletes both on the basketball floor and in the classroom in order to recruit quality student athletes to American University. This includes phone calling, letter writing, and various other recruiting tasks.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Follows the progress of our studentathletes in the classroom to make sure that our students are succeeding academically.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-Time, 35 hours per week.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree. 35 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree.
