This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, which translates to 2-3 days minimum per week in the office.


The ESG Associate will be an integral part of the global HarbourVest ESG team and will work to sustain our vision of embracing responsible investing through partnering with our stakeholders and employees.


They will be based in Boston or London and will work collaboratively with team members to help plan and implement the ESG team's vision and strategy.

This team member will primarily support the investment teams with ESG investment analysis, and will promote ESG standard methodologies and engagement opportunities through data-driven insights.

  • An interest in and an understanding of how to analyze and evaluate investments with an ESG lens
  • Proven capability of project management successfully collaborating across teams
  • A growth mindset and a desire to enhance the firm's potential in the ESG space

What you will do:

  • Provide incisive and material ESG company analysis to support investment team due diligence
  • Support analysis of primary impact fund strategies, credit fund strategies, and impact deals
  • Develop research notes to support investment team understanding of ESG risks and opportunities
  • Support continual improvement through the effective rollout of new ESG processes and tools
  • Ensure compliance with agreed ESG processes through proactive monitoring
  • Support regular training and onboarding for investment teams on ESG process

What you bring:

  • Demonstrates experience in ESG investment analysis and research, a sincere passion for responsible investing, and a keen curiosity about ESG topics.
  • Demonstrate private markets and investing knowledge to optimally interact with our investment teams.
  • Demonstrate sophisticated data analysis capabilities and skills for IT systems strategy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly motivated with strong project management, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; must be a selfstarter and resourceful.
  • Strong work ethic, intellectual honesty and curiosity.
Education Preferred

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent (any academic or professional credentials relevant to sustainable finance should be highlighted)
Experience

  • 25 Years professional and/or relevant work experience
