    Graduate Assistant - Contemplative Psychology
    We are searching for an experienced Graduate Assistant - Contemplative Psychology at our 2111 Arapahoe facility.

    FTE: 13% (5 hrs/week)


    Compensation:
    $20 per hour / $1,500 Scholarship

    Job Summary
    This graduate research assistant position will support up to three ongoing research projects in the Cognitive and Affective Science Laboratory ), alongside more general lab duties. This GA will work closely with the lab director, Dr. Jordan Quaglia, to assist in research on mental, emotional, and social well-being-including but not limited to grant-funded projects.

    The position is well-suited for applicants with a background in psychology and neuroscience research, or with strong interest in these fields.


    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assist and support contemplative psychology and neuroscience research pertaining to mental, emotional, and social well-being.
    • Assist in guidance and training of volunteer research assistants.
    • Learn and support data management and analyses.
    • Learn and assist in qualitative research methodology.
    • Assist with manuscript preparation and/or conference submission for peer-reviewed outlets of publication.
    • Lab location pending, learn and implement procedures for collecting neuroscientific data using 32 Channel Geodesic EEG System.
    • Support grant-funded study on the Naropa Mindful Compassion Training.
    • Support grant-funded study on Spiritual Intelligence.

    • BA

    Qualifications Naropa Would Prefer in Candidates for this Position

    • Previous research experience (in psychology or otherwise)
    • Interest in contributing to contemplative neuroscience and psychology research
    • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
    • Demonstrated communication and writing skills
    • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Google docs/calendar

    Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
    In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness.

    As a graduate assistant, you may spend extended periods time with any of the following:


    • Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
    • Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
    • Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
    • Moving around campus for classes and meetings.

    Naropa's health and welfare benefits include the following: medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, employer-paid short-term and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, an employer-sponsored pre-tax retirement savings plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching, and a variety of voluntary, employee-paid supplemental insurance plans.

    A comprehensive benefits package is available to full-time employees who work a minimum of 30 hours each week.

    Employees who work hours each week are eligible for only the employer-paid short-term & long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance & accidental death and dismemberment, and the retirement plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.


    Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa's retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.

    All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
