This individual is a key member of the legal and compliance team and will be based out of Melbourne, FL.

This person will help advance the Company's continued compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as well as with internal policies and procedures.

Role and Responsibilities


To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position.

All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules, and requirements for attendance.

The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:


  • Analyze statutory and legal changes to determine the applicable compliance impact on all Orion180's lines of business.
  • Coordinate the company's response to market conduct examinations, consumer complaints, and other regulatory inquiries.
  • Manage the agent appointment and licensing process.
  • Monitor State specific laws, bulletins, circulars, and alerts to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Company's compliance program and key risk areas.
  • Participate in crossfunctional compliance initiatives to ensure compliance in all areas of the Company.
  • Review and draft company contracts and agreements.
  • Create, review, and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Identify and document processes and oversee compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Draft or review and revise memos and alerts assessing law, statutes, and regulations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • J.D. required.
  • Three (3) years legal practice required.
  • P&C Insurance knowledge required.
  • State Insurance Department/regulatory experience required.
  • Member of Florida Bar preferred
  • Knowledge of admitted and surplus lines insurance products.
  • Knowledge of insurance policy language (product lines) and insurance coverage interpretation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong legal research skills.
  • Highest level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
Physical Demands


While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs).

Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.

In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, reach for files, or other standard office-type objects.

Work Environment


The office environment is generally quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control.

An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.

$131, $146,064.00 per year
