    Chaplain PRN - Medical Center

    At Houston Methodist, the role of Chaplain PRN involves providing spiritual care to address the spiritual, religious, emotional, and psychological needs of Houston Methodist patients and their families. Additionally, offering spiritual care support to employees, visitors, and physicians at the medical center. The Chaplain PRN conducts spiritual care visits with patients for initial assessments and follow-up care, following established care plans and being proactive in identifying necessary changes. This position requires independent work, sound judgment, and above-average critical thinking skills for challenging situations, collaborating effectively with peers, and supporting Houston Methodist's mission, vision, and values.

    Requirements:

    • Facilitates a supportive environment for all involved parties
      Assists in implementing Houston Methodist's mission, vision, and values
      Provides spiritual care support to employees
      Collaborates with the patient care team
      Acts as a mentor and facilitator

    Service Essential Functions:

    • Provides spiritual care to patients and families of all faiths
      Conducts spiritual care assessments and visits
      Serves as a liaison with community clergy
      Offers crisis intervention services

    Quality/Safety Essential Functions:

    • Participates in health team rounds
      Accurately documents patient visits and care provided
      Collaborates with staff to assess service quality and safety

    Finance Essential Functions:

    • Manages time effectively
      Demonstrates responsible financial stewardship

    Growth/Innovation Essential Functions:

    • Participates in department and hospital-wide activities
      Represents the hospital in community activities

    This job description encompasses various tasks to be performed, with the employee expected to fulfill other related job duties as assigned, subject to job duty revisions by Houston Methodist as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Education:
      Bachelor's degree, ideally in a related field
      Completion of four CPE units from accredited institutions
    • Work Experience:
      Minimum of one year of relevant experience

    Licenses and Certifications:

    • Required:
      Not Applicable
    • Preferred:
      Various certifications within three years

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Endorsed for chaplaincy by a recognized body
      Demonstrates necessary competencies for the role
      Proficient in English
      Strong communication skills
      Basic computer knowledge
      Interpersonal and team player capabilities
