    Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Dean, College of Pharmacy, at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), Oklahoma City. The Dean is the academic administrative officer of the College of Pharmacy and is directly responsible to the Senior Vice President and Provost of OU Health Sciences. The College of Pharmacy has 42 full-time and 5 part-time faculty, and 124 staff, with an enrollment of approximately 210 students in Ph.D., Pharm D., PharmD/MS, and PhD programs, and 10 trainees in its PGY1 Pharmacy, PGY2, and PGY1 Managed Care residencies.The OUHSC is one of the most comprehensive academic health centers in the United States, with six professional Colleges (Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Allied Health, and Public Health) and a Graduate College, as well as a School of Community Medicine on its Tulsa campus; clinical and research centers of excellence such as the NCI-designated Stephenson Cancer Center, the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, and the Dean McGee Eye Institute, and with patient care and graduate medical education programs in partnership with the healthcare system, OU Health. The OUHSC and OU Health partnership integrates the three missions of patient care, education and research to support a research-driven academic health system. The College of Pharmacy is fully accredited through the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) and its faculty and students are active in outreach programs to the professional state organization and in the community. The College has received the AACP Lawrence C. Weaver Award, recognizing transformative community service. In 2021, the College ranked as the #1 pharmacy school in the country for its NAPLEX first-time passage rate of 98%. In addition to its regular academic mission, the College maintains a nuclear and a closed-door pharmacy and operates and staffs the Oklahoma Center for Poison and Drug Information.The Dean will provide leadership of the College, focusing on growing research in support of the OUHSC Strategic Plan, and on growing student enrollment through both traditional and innovative new programs, including online programs. The Dean is a member of the OUHSC Leadership Committee and works with the other Deans and Vice Presidents and Vice Provosts to continue the commitment to interprofessional education and service, and to integrated healthcare delivery with OU Health. The Dean supervises Associate and Assistant Deans and Department Chairs.Additional responsibilities include:
      Educational programs: Establish a strategic plan that includes a national vision for the College and supports the Health Sciences Center's strategic plan. Oversee all of the College's educational and training programs and advance a high-quality and innovative learning environment. Ensure continued full accreditation status. Expand interprofessional education and practice and grow enrollment. Recruit and mentor students and faculty and teach students and trainees. Research programs: Expand discovery, research, and development through recruitment of outstanding faculty and trainees, strategic prioritization, and effective operations. Capitalize on emerging research opportunities with an emphasis on clinical and translational research, and interdisciplinary approaches across OU Health Sciences. Work closely with research leaders, including the Vice President for Research, Associate Deans for Research, and Department Chairs as well as with researchers on the OU-Norman campus and in the Oklahoma City innovation community.Commercialization: Increase commercialization activity through disclosures and patents and licensing and ventures with local, national, and international industries and foundations.Philanthropy and Community engagement: Nurture and expand philanthropic efforts, donor cultivation and stewardship to support academic programs. Serve as an advocate and thought leader for academic medicine issues at the local, state, and national levels. Meet regularly with alumni, donors, supporters, professional associations, state licensing boards, policymakers, and legislators.Clinical enterprise: Set expectations and policies to continually improve the clinical learning environment with OU Health and community partners and champion synergies with education and research. Oversee the operations of pharmacies run by the College in OKC and Tulsa. Work closely with the Senior Vice President and Provost and OU Health's Chief Administrative Officer – Clinical Support ServicesFaculty development: Enhance faculty prominence, diversity, scholarship, and teaching impact. Oversee recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and promotion.Administration: Build and lead a talented, collaborative, and diverse team of Associate and Assistant Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty, and staff. Actively work and communicate with leaders across OU Health Sciences for an aligned institutional mission. Develop, prioritize, recommend, and administer a comprehensive, activity-based, and transparent budget and compensation plan for the College's educational and research programs. Ensure the effective use of space assigned for education and research. Work closely with the OU Health Sciences Center Vice President for Finance and Administration and the University Chief Financial Officer.

    Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal attributes:
    • A PharmD or PhD degree and the minimal academic rank of Professor, tenure eligible.
    • Excellent academic accomplishments and credentials, with a history of funded research and publications, and national recognition within their field.
    • Experience in, a dynamic, matrixed, and rapidly evolving organization and external environment.
    • Strong record of collaboration, team-building, inclusion, communication, and integrity in a university health sciences organization.
    • Experience in philanthropic cultivation and stewardship with alumni, university supporters, and civic leaders.
    • A significant leadership role in an accredited pharmacy school and/or an academic medical center.
    • Experience and insights in pharmacy student training, research, and healthcare policy.
    • A successful track record of recruiting, mentoring, and retaining faculty.
    • Analytical and administrative skills in activity-based budget development and prioritization, and compensation models.
