    Description

    Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA), located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is the research division of Toyota Motor North America. To support the research and development of next generation fuel cell technologies, we are currently seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student for a 6-month internship.

    Project and Responsibilities:

    As a full-time research intern, you will work with a team and assist in the screening and integration of membranes and ionomers into full fuel cell devices.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Evaluating MEA performance and durability.
    • Assisting in the screening of electrolyte materials and the development of CCM.
    • Investigating innovative solutions for modifications to membranes and ionomers aimed at enhancing performance and durability.

    Qualifications:

    • Currently in a Ph.D program in Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Hands-on experience in either of the following categories:
    1. Experience in polymeric membrane formulation and fabrication.
    2. Experience in synthesizing monomer, polymers or functional group is highly valued.
    3. Experience in MEA preparation and electrochemical device characterization (i.e. cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, etc).
