Job Summary:


To allocate work to the transport team and contractor drivers to ensure the transportation of material to and from customer and Company sites is completed in a safe and efficient manner in line with company requirements.

Duties may include telephone or computer to transmit assignments, compiling statistics and reports on work progress.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Maintain transport systems to ensure accuracy and currency of data in line with business requirements.
  • Allocate transport jobs to transport team members and contractor drivers in a timely manner, in accordance with business and legislative requirements
  • Ensure that information contained on transport job sheets are accurate and complete and includes specific vendor/customer information and/or requests.
  • Assist with the allocation of jobs by sorting jobs according to type, locality etc. so that consideration is given to urgency, location and cost effectiveness of the transport job.
  • Monitor job progress and update systems upon job completion noting any factors that impacted on the cost of jobs such as detention, futile loads, business closed, etc
  • Communicate with contractor drivers / customers / vendors to determine job status / and identify and investigate any incomplete jobs at close of business
  • Ensure accurate records of completed jobs are recorded within relevant system to facilitate accurate and timely payment in line with company requirements
  • Ensure pricing data for invoicing is accurate and current.
  • Record, resolve and/or escalate complaints in a timely manner in accordance with company requirements
  • Provide backup support to Dispatcher(s) which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Constant coordination of inventory for all assets.
  • Arrange coordination with TM or TS & Maintenance in getting equipment to service shops when repairs are needed on assets
  • In the case of breakdowns; assist, arrange and provide roadside assistance for our drivers (flat tire, tow trucks, etc.)
  • Creating the dispatch schedule around out of service equipment
  • Prepare daily work schedules, missed load reports and 30/60/90 Day inventories
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with company and legislative requirements
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability (SHECS) policies, procedures, and initiatives
  • Support diversity and inclusion, positive employee relations, and teamwork
  • Support measures designed to effectively manage costs and adherence to budgetary requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality requirements
  • Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and initiatives relevant to the job
  • Support training and performancemanagement initiatives

Qualifications:


  • Associate degree, advanced diploma or level 4 award, certificate or diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years' experience in an industrial transport environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations;
  • Knowledge and understanding of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, preferred;
  • Knowledge and understanding and experience with scrap metal transport requirements, preferred
