    Description

    Position Summary:
    The Senior Vice President of Taxation will lead the Tax & Equity Plan Department.

    They will be responsible for ensuring efficient, timely, and complete processing of internal and external tax reporting as well as minimization of tax obligations of the company, creative input on product development, and assistance with review of operating documents of the company and its equity plans.

    Essential Functions -* Coordination with external tax return preparers regarding tax positions taken and tax return review issues

    • Oversight of the internal tax preparation and review team
    • Being in touch of the potential federal legislative tax changes that may impact the company
    • Identify potential risk areas and key issues for additional review, and/or detailed analysis and assessment and possible mitigation approaches
    • Track emerging industry issues, developments and trends in technical areas relevant to the business pipeline
    • Provide input on 3rd party technical due diligence scope and oversee activities of outside technical consultants
    • Provide management, origination professionals, and asset managers with advice including definitive research, asset evaluations, financial data and commentary for their use as it relates to the tax implications of all aspects of the company's business
    • Inspect assets being considered for financing and assets associated with existing investments for relevant tax attributes and any planning or structuring considerations
    • Prepare written technical reports and present the results of technical reviews to approval committees
    • Lead the team to ensure compliance with the US Tax regulations
    • Provide oversight and regular feedback / reporting to management
    • Oversee the Equity Plans team for timely and accurate internal and external reporting
    • Development of potential future synthetic or equity incentive awards
    • Ensure company compliance with all relevant regulations to maintain validity and effectiveness of the plans and their tax attributes
    • Ensure the proper calculation, reporting, and presentation of securities that may be created by the various plans already in existence Understand legal, accounting, and tax intersections and collaborate with teams to find solutions on all angles
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies -* Demonstrates a strong value system and an ethical sense of judgement; conveys those values within the tax team and across the business

    • Has the experience and judgement to initiate, plan, execute, and complete goals timely
    • Excellent analytic, tax technical, organizational and project management skills
    • Excellent knowledge of corporate, partnership, and international tax laws and structuring
    • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy
    • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills to excel in a dynamic and fast paced environment
    • Excellent communicator and educator of others that is respectful; able to translate tax rules and concepts into clear actionable information
    Qualifications -* Bachelor's Degree in accounting; preferably completed CPA, JD, Master's Degree, or other form of advanced education

    • 10+ years of tax function leadership experience with a US based financial services firm with investments held domestically and globally across all industry segments.
