Cost Accountant
Job Summary:
The cost accountant is responsible for analyzing financial data, monitoring costs of labor for each restaurant location, reviewing daily POS report void and comps and discounts and preparing budget reports for the area manager and organization.
They play a crucial role in ensuring cost efficiency and profitability by providing accurate and insightful cost analysis for each restaurant.
Review cost of goods and contract pricingResponsibilities:
- Analyze cost accounting data and prepare various reports to inform management decisions.
- Monitor and analyze restaurant and production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
- Develop and maintain cost standards for materials and labor.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts by providing costrelated inputs and recommendations.
- Monitor and analyze franchisee weekly sales report collect weekly franchise fee
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual costs and budgeted/planned costs.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to identify costsaving opportunities and process improvements.
- Prepare cost reports for internal and external stakeholders, including monthly financial statements and ad hoc analyses.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies/regulations.
- Participate in inventory management activities, including valuation and reconciliation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support the audit process as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
- Previous experience in cost accounting or related field preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting principles.
- Familiarity with ERP systems ; Two to three years of SAP is required.
- Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Work Environment:
The cost accountant typically works in an office setting, often collaborating with members of the restaurant team, operations, and management teams.
They may also spend time in each restaurant location to gather data and conduct analyses.Pay:
$60,000 to $70,000 per year
