***:The Guidance & Prevention Specialist will be responsible for assessing the needs of at-risk members of their site, such as child neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, unmet emotional needs, stresses of child care, drug/alcohol abuse, attitude towards violence and peer pressure. Employees are responsible for complying with all UAU standards.

Please note this is a Part-Time position, Monday-Friday 2:00pm-6:00pm (approx hours per week/ 2-3 days per week). This position also requires daily travel throughout Staten Island and reliable transportation is a MUST. Fluent SPANISH Speaking is a MUST.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Facilitate individual and group counseling
  • Attend professional development and staff training
  • Implement evidence based curriculum
  • Conduct assessments and complete prevention counseling paperwork
  • Complete documentation corresponding to delivery of prevention services
  • Monitor data collection and attendance records
  • Maintain updates and deliverables
  • Demonstrate positive leadership and act as a positive role model to participants
  • Engage in the community and target population participants
  • Model, enforce, teach and develop age appropriate social, physical and emotional behaviors
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
  • Abide by all safety protocols as outlined by Department of Health/OCFS, DYCD and UAU
  • Remote work as assigned and outlined in remote guidelines & policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or GED or High School diploma required
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Reliable mode of transportation
  • Valid drivers license
  • 2+ years of direct working experience in youth services or school aged children (5yrs to 18yrs of age)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to work on community outreach and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and remote video platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Spanish Speaking a PLUS
  • Strong problem solving and mathematical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and complete work independently
  • Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed
  • Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes
