GENERAL


Hotel on Rivington is seeking a dedicated & experienced Engineering Supervisor to oversee our hotel's maintenance operations and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

The engineering supervisor; supervises and oversees the building's mechanical equipment and engineering staff.

The overall responsibility for managing engineering operations and coordinating with the Senior Managers all hotel needs and functions under the direct supervision and instructions of the Complex Director of Engineering and Complex General Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage daily activities, communicate goals, implement schedules, and follow proper procurement procedures to ensure engineering associates have the tools and supplies needed to carry out their job duties
  • Will assist in training engineering associates to comply with corporate, local, state, and federal laws
  • Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, you may be required to work weekends, holidays, and other hours outside your regular schedule to support the department's needs.
  • Able to work various schedules to reflect the hotel's business needs, including afterhours, weekends, and holidays
  • The Engineering Supervisor will carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job as requested by the department head.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the highest quality of service to hotel guests at all times. Deal promptly and efficiently with guest complaints and needs.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of emergency and safety procedures. Respond to all emergencies and be prepared to assist.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies, tools, and equipment and maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • This role will support, maintain, and implement the department's BOH preventive maintenance program.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned and serve as "Engineering Supervisor" as required while maintaining and repairing the interior and exterior of the building
  • Will be required to represent and support the Complex Director of Engineer in their absence confidently on all levels to ownership, executive leadership, contractors, or other department heads.
  • Maintain the PM program for the backofthehouse areas. Create and implement a PM program for the mechanical equipment in the building Review, adhere to, and understand all safety procedures (such as LOTO). Perform maintenance checks of equipment and logs properly.
  • Attend Daily Operations Meetings.
  • Direct Supervise of the Engineering and Plumbing Crews. Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all workspaces, shops, and storage areas.
  • Must hold FLSD(preferred) or ability to take and pass classes, licensing, and certification steps as required by New York City & State (required).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Prior Engineering experience in any area or trade. (Preferably hotels)
  • HVAC knowledge
  • Must know about plumbing and building code
  • Must be familiar with procurement and scheduling programs. Possesses the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Computer skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires ability to perform the following: carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Frequently stand up and move about the facility, handle objects and equipment to maintain it, and constantly bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and crawl
  • May work in noisy environments, hot or cold temperatures, and confined spaces. This job may require working from heights higher than 4 feet and working off ladders.

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

Education:
High School Diploma / GED Equivalent (required).

College Diploma / or advanced technical vocational training (preferred).

  • Refrigeration Engineer Certificate of Fitness
  • Standpipe Certificate of Fitness
  • Citywide Sprinkler Systems Certificate of Fitness
  • Combination Citywide Standpipe and Sprinkler Systems Certificate of Fitness
  • Maintain Inside Alarm System Certificate of Fitness
  • Cooling Tower & Close Loop Water Treatment Certificate General Computer Knowledge

Experience:

A minimum of 3 + years in a hotel in a similar role is required.

Track record of working collaboratively with others to achieve desired results.
