Job Summary


The Associate Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing small and medium project and sustainment efforts, as well as on larger projects with guidance from teammates.

The Associate PM will also create and manage project reports, communication, and documentation.

At HP Hood, the Associate PM will report to the PMO Sr.

Manager and work closely with members of the IT department, Process Improvement department, and business teams to define, schedule, and manage deliverables.


Essential Duties Responsibilities:


  • Learn the ins and outs of our project management tool, Wrike, to eventually function as an expert; learn other tools as needed. Provide set up assistance and training to other users as assigned. Coach others daily on use of the tool, understanding that adapting to a new tool may be difficult for some users. Practice patience, respect, and understanding. Review Wrike regularly for accuracy and request updates from users as needed.
  • Facilitate the definition, planning, implementation, testing, training, and acceptance of assigned projects and initiatives to achieve ontime and highquality delivery. Document and track risks & budget and facilitate remediation. Escalate issues to management when necessary. Follow up on deliverables with project members.
  • Ask questions to identify process weaknesses and areas for improvement. Make recommendations and, once approved, build out workflows to support new processes and train users.
  • With training, follow Lean-Agile methodologies and coach project teams on the use of them.
  • Continue professional development in project management, Lean-Agile, and business and technical areas to keep up to date with industry developments and company changes.
  • Travel as needed to gather business requirements and successfully implement projects at company locations. Travel will be sporadic and may include periods of up to 100% travel intermixed with periods of no travel. Project implementations may occur during nonpeak business hours.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the PMO Sr. Manager.

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 13 years of fulltime work experience, with exposure to project management duties

Skills and Competencies

  • Interest in IT or Project Management
  • A "can do" attitude & a positive approach to working with others
  • Able to learn independently via video tutorials and willing to engage with external vendors as needed.
  • Able to actively listen and respond well to evolving priorities. No two days are alike in a PMO
  • Selfdirected, resultsoriented, and comfortable working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially PowerPoint & Excel
