Overview
A vital part of the role is researching potential sponsors and developing sales strategies to approach new clients. The Sales Coordinator needs to have excellent communication skills, be persuasive, and able to articulate sponsorship opportunities clearly.

They need to have a good knowledge of the sports industry, including key players, trends, and the companies operating in it.

The position also involves developing relationships with clients and maintaining them over time.

The Sales Coordinator needs to be highly organized, able to manage their time to reach sales targets, and maintain a database of potential clients.

To succeed in this role, a Sales Coordinator needs to demonstrate creativity, tenacity, and an ability to work collaboratively with other departments within a sports organization.


  • Work with companies and local businesses to secure sponsorships for sporting events and organizations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential and current sponsors
  • Gather market data and analytics to pitch to sponsors
  • Negotiate sponsorship packages and contracts with potential sponsors
  • Collaborate with marketing and advertising teams to create customized sponsorship packages and promotional materials
  • Attend networking events and speaking engagements to promote sponsorships
  • Manage and track sponsorships throughout the season or event
  • Provide excellent customer service to sponsors and ensure their needs are met
  • Analyze and evaluate sponsorship successes and areas of improvement
  • Continuously identify new sponsorship opportunities and prospects.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Two to three years of sales experience.
  • Experience working with athletic promotions and sports marketing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent supervisory and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of event marketing, promotions, and advertising.
  • Ability to operate independently, take initiative, and followthrough with assignments.
  • Ability to initiate, lead, plan and direct the work of department.
  • Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Skills in resolving problems with clients and with staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
