Compensation for this role

:

$ $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.


Shift

:

1st - 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM


Summary

:

Responsible for the correct, efficient, and prompt packaging, preparation, and shipment of all departing products.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs all measurements, machine operation, and hand labor associated with package preparation, including, but not limited to: skid construction, box making, box assembly, shrink wrapping, bag sealing, packing, strapping, paperwork preparation, labeling, and product identification.
  • Packs individual orders to ensure undamaged delivery of a clean, presentable, and correctly labeled product, and efficient use of packaging material and manpower.
  • Uses hand trucks and dollies to load outgoing and incoming materials; may use forklift if trained/certified.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of accurate paperwork on shipping transactions, including daily shipping schedules, receiving reports, packing slips, bills of lading, air bills, and other associated documents.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance and housekeeping of the shipping department area and all equipment.
  • Ensures proper placement of labels and marking the cartons by way of stencil or handwritten customer information on top of carton, weight, and name of the customer in the upper righthand corner displaying order number, customer name, and weight on the front of the carton.
  • May crosstrain in other areas of shipping to ensure skills are being kept up.
  • Consistently maintains a clean and organized work area by using cleaning supplies such as broom, dust mop, dustpan to clean assigned areas.
  • Checks on supplies and if needed informs the Shipping Supervisor.
  • Responsible for maintaining "Form B" cleanliness standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education (required)

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Forklift operator's license desired.
  • Prior shipping and receiving experience desired.
  • Prior exposure to the bill of lading, packing list, and other shipping transaction paperwork desired.
  • Prior exposure to box making and or box assembly desired.
  • Previous experience packaging and handling fragile products desired.
  • Acceptable vision test results (as applicable).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
