Hours :9am-6pm
Days:Monday - Friday
JOB DUTIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide street based outreach and deliver Harm Reduction Outreach services in the field at homeless encampments located throughout the city of Alameda.
- Utilize and operate an outreach vehicle/van daily to visit encampments and homeless individuals.
- Provide transportation of the clients to and from appointments, etc. as needed.
- Distribute food, and supplies, etc. to clients at encampments.
- Provide Harm Reduction: Responding to client's priority felt need or emergency situations; food, health, income, transportation, etc.
- Develop rapport and build an ongoing relationship with clients via regular and consistent contact.
- Provide Case Management: Street-Based and Office-Based
- Help link clients with housing resource centers, housing navigation services, with the goal of helping individuals move from unsheltered to sheltered situations.
- Utilize motivational interviewing skills to build trust and engage clients
- Provide cleaning materials (gloves, garbage bags, etc.) to encourage and support light clean up around sites to maintain health and welfare of encampments and the surrounding community.
- Actively participate in the City's Homeless Outreach Team for Alameda's Homeless and its activities.
- Respond to requests, inquiries and concerns from the community, businesses, residents and the City of Alameda, in relation to unsheltered individuals, cleaning requests, nuisance, resources, etc.
- Responsible for daily logs and providing regular demographic and informational reports: daily, weekly, monthly.
- Other and additional related duties as needed and assigned to support the mission of the organization
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience:Two years of related work experience

Education: High school diploma or GED, Some college preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict
- Familiarity with the Homeless community a plus
- Positive personality and personable attitude
- Ability to interact with various types of people.
- Good work ethic
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record is a must
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with mínimal supervision and complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Selfstarter able to work in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to sit and stand for a period of time and lift 65 pounds
- Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
- Ability to always maintain professional standards.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand; use hands, handle, or feel; and hear or talk.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
- A background check prior to employment is required.
- Proof of Covid Vaccination and boosters required prior to employment.
