Position Introduction


The General Services Technician is responsible for providing event support for College events, an executing campus office moves, including furniture, records and supplies, and the relocation of furniture.

The General Services Technician is responsible for providing event support for College events. Support includes transporting, delivering, and storing event related equipment for campus events.

Event set up and tear down activities shall include but is not limited to table and chairs set up, audio visual, flags, risers, floor tarps, pipe and drape.

Audio visual setups will be conducted under the supervision of the General Services Supervisor.

The General Services Technician will execute campus office moves, including furniture, records and supplies, and the relocation of furniture.

This position is responsible for completing daily recycling pickups and large deliveries as needed throughout campus, and filling in as needed to perform custodial work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Three (3) years of special event related experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to operate Fork Lift, receives annual training on operation.
  • Ability to read and understand written work orders for special events as well as understand diagrams for placement of items for an event.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to withstand physical exertion involving walking, lifting, climbing, and crawling on a daily basis.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry heavy items up to 75lbs on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions including heat, rain, sleet and snow.
  • Assemble and lift objects up to 30 pounds overhead routinely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of stage assembly and technical safety regulations.
  • Experience in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Risk management (Blood-Borne Pathogens, Personal Protective Equipment, Ladder Safety, etc.) and safety training, trained and certified in Fork Lift operation.

Schedule
40 Hours/ 12 Months/ Monday - Friday
