We are looking to hire a pastry assistant immediately for our high-end hospitality, events and catering company Seeking a dependable, efficient pastry asistant with pastry experience and a positive attitude to help with all aspects of pastry and desserts.

Location is Mid City.

Summary/Objective
The pastry assistant prepares, bakes, follows recipe and decorates a wide variety of pastries and breads. Must be able to replicate plated desserts. If needed, must be able assist on site at events.

Essential Functions

Reviews production schedule to determine baking requirements including variety and quantity of items for preparation and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activities.

Prepares a wide variety of pastries and breads in accordance with prescribed recipes.

Tests product for quality.

Helps packing out dessert and breads for events.

Completes production sheets and other records as required.

Maintains clean work areas, utensils, and equipment including the dish area.

Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and baking supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive product, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.

Physical Demands
The employee is required to stand for long periods as well as walk, bend, and stoop. Position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect at close and distance ranges.

The position requires ability to use arms, hands and manipulate fingers to reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, decorate, etc.

and ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position regularly requires some long hours and weekend work.

Travel
Some travel may be required.

California Class C driver's license with clean DMV record

Required Education and Experience
Culinary Arts degree or equivalent event or catering baking experience

Excellent written and verbal communication

English and Spanish fluency a plus

Minimum of 2+ years' successful event baking

Capable of working independently, effectively, and efficiently

Demonstrated ability to interact well with event guests.
