_Drug and Alcohol Counselor/Case Manager_

Counselor and Case Manager Job Overview
The case manager/ drug and alcohol counselor will advocate for and advise clients within their assigned caseload.

The counselor should have characteristics such as highly developed interpersonal communication skills, empathy and compassion, ability to take on multiple tasks, and ability to maintain a professional yet supportive relationship with clients.

Counselors must be self-starter's and have a sense of priority in regard to the clients care and maintaining proper documentation.

The Counselor will help guide each client in achieving their treatment and recovery goals, by developing, and monitoring the clients individualized treatment plans.

The counselor will build and maintain a good rapport with clients, as they provide support, empathy, and hope as well as the much-needed direction to clients as they work to build a healthy life in recovery.


Responsibilities

  • Provide Group therapy Sessions as scheduled (12 Groups per week).
  • Provide Individual Counseling and Case Management Sessions weekly with clients.
  • Complete and maintain accurate EMR records regarding client histories and progress, must document all groups and individual sessions.
  • Develop client master treatment plans in coordination with the client, emphasizing on their own goals and objectives for their recovery, as well as clinical treatment goals.
  • Review and evaluate client progress in treatment plans and maintain current records of progress of goals. Modify treatment plans as client's status changes and goals are met.
  • Assess and evaluate clients' mental and physical conditions, and advocate for client care and services needed.
  • Complete a Biopsychosocial, assessments and intake documentation for Admits.
  • Intervene as an advocate for clients to resolve crisis situations when needed.
  • Be familiar with community resources.
  • Have and understanding of 12Step programs and other outside support meetings such as Refuge or SMART.
  • Be familiar or have experience treating dual diagnosis clients.
  • Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals and other health professionals at the center for collaborated care for the client.
  • Attend any training sessions/ inservice trainings to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Plan and implement followup and aftercare planning for discharging clients.
  • Counsel or educate family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients. Keep family members and loved ones informed of treatment progress when needed as well as provide referrals when needed.
  • Participate in case conferences and staff meetings with clinical director.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and clinical and or medical staff.
  • Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services and other services available.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Must be wellversed in counseling protocols and techniques, have excellent clinical skills and maintain professionalism in dress, speech and actions.
  • Must have good problemsolving skills, work well with others and be a team player.
  • Must have highly developed communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Be able to enforce policies and procedures in a fair manner with clients.
  • Must be able to write legible, concise notes in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and give or follow simple instructions.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of confidentiality and discretion when working with clients and observe HIPPA.
  • Ability to use good judgment and give direction to clients to further their treatment progress or assist in crisis situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills.
  • Provide hope, feedback and direction to clients.
  • Be able to manage taking clients on recreational therapeutic outings or exposure outings.
  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Adhere to our policies and procedures and code of conduct.
  • Drug Testing and Breathalyzing of clients and Documentation.

Because we are a small treatment facility, we only focus on a small number of clients at one time in order to give our complete attention and care to our clients.

Pay is based on experience.
